Vin,

I have been a heavy consumer of this site relative to my inputs over the last 5 years. As a Club President who is very interested in the challenges and opportunities faced by the Soccer Staff, the lifeblood of any club, I have found this site invaluable. It is has truly been the highest quality information and debate (with the exception of Russ threads) with the least amount of noise, spam and Soccer Parent crap. This site has been an unintentionally well kept secret of some pretty strong soccer minds (me not included as I am on the club operation side of the equation).

I fear, with 100% certainty, that your new format of an aggregated soccer forum will doom this site's value and richness. You are essentially creating a smaller version of BigSoccer Forum which has lots of content but is highly diluted and polluted by soccer parents who are not adding content value and rarely looking for genuine help. This site will have the following topic headings within weeks...

KID SCREWED AT TRYOUTS
HOW DO I COMMUNICATE TO THE COACH THAT "JOHNNY" IS A FORWARD AND NEEDS TO STOP BEING PUT AT LEFT BACK
SWITCHING CLUBS MID-SEASON
POLITICS DURING TRYOUTS
COACH DATING TEAM MANAGER

While these topics will get you lots of viewers and more add dollars you will lose the excellent content creators and discussion topics this site has facilitated over the years.

You have a choice to make. Keep this site away from the masses and for the coaches and soccer staff or plug it into the home page and lose the people who have created the value and richness of this site.  Not a threat just my view.

Thanks for the input UlittleCoach, the last thing I want to do is send the site content into oblivion. The goal is to unite the soccer community across a common platform.

I do appreciate your comments, please keep them coming.

Patronism comes in many forms.....
* "I hear what you say"...
* "The last thing I want to do is..."
* "The goal is..."
* " Some of my best friends are...."

Vin,
I think you are by now appreciating the uniqueness of the original and-again forum.
The and-again 'brand' has been established by some of the best coaching personalities and the vast experience they have brought to the table.

Ulittlecoach has expressed a vital area AND offered a solution, yet you seem unaware of that importance. You still dont seem to 'get it' - the popularity of the and-again forum is that it ISN'T a common platform.....its uniqueness is that it specialises in coaching content and rarely, if ever, entertains content that doesn't revolve around coaching.

With all due respect, I do not wish to see the kind of dumming down of content that will be enivatable once the and-again forum is 'assimilated' like the BORG in Star Trek into a completely Americanised Star Bucks coffee house with anyone jumping in without an ounce of experience to back up their opinions.

It was working FINE so why knock the walls down to build a better roof????

I don't visit the site very often now so just noticing this.  Greg, don't know if you still pop in or not, if so thanks for setting the site up all those years ago.  As you know I was very active up until a few years ago and I found the forum very insightful.  There were many discussions that I found very informative,  some added to my knowledge, some made me think a bit more and some I disagreed with however the beauty of football, or soccer as you guys call it, is that there are so many ways in which the game can be played.

All the best Greg and thanks.

As for the new forum, give it a chance guys, even this one had a few teething problems.

Wow...the first time in 11 years, the USASoccerforum has CENSORED free speech on the forum by closing a post for NO other reason than to stop freedom of dissent (check Time to say Goodbye)

In one move you have destroyed ANY trust that I and all the other coaches on the OLD and-again forum had.
You do NOT have a clue how to create integrity and if you can (and you HAVE) censored myself who has contributed SO much to this site (freely) I might add, then I and ALL the old forums posters will NEVER again be able to say what they feel as it will be censored.

You have blown it big time.

p.s. I wonder how long it will take for them to censor THIS post too?????  [sneaky][nono][crazy][frown]

Kev I am afraid is right. I did like that either
This is a post they cut
Goal 150 post

Nothing wrong with bigsoccer either. There's a lot of other stuff, but there's a good group of consistent posters in the coaches thread.

Merging threads with similar information into one category isn't censoring. We're trying to help forum members find information more efficiently.

Why do we need two threads?

If your "customers" don't have a problem with it, why should you?

But Pita....we AREN'T customers....yet!!!
And thats the real deal here. Once you have migrated, you WILL be bombarded with all the ads etc that Greg was always fast to stop. Only the right ones were allowed to advertise for a small fee, but even then they were mostly members advertising. The future IMO, will be some words surrounded by ad after ad.

Or maybe I should start offering my 'advice' for a small fee???....
Now THAT would be OK wouldnt it.....members??? [wink][thumb]

I mean, I donated years and years of advice for free to members that I KNEW and TRUSTED and who gave back in return.
So, if its going to be USASoccerforum then I would not be going back on my word would I??

Greg, thank you for all you have done, both with this Forum and for the game.

Thanks, Greg, for keeping this going after the original PVV collapse.  I've learned a ton from a lot of different people on here and am a much better coach because of it.  Waiting to see what happens here now but wanted to throw out a heartfelt "thank you!" to all of the folks on here before you all can leave. :-)

Thank you all,

ErikB

Whatever happened to 'THE AND-AGAIN FORUM BOOK' ?? Guys????
That would take care of the archive problem. So does anybody have the facility to publish the archive content and then we could pay a modest fee to keep a momento of the site.

I'm wondering if it would be possible to take the archives from here and put them directly onto the coaching discussion page on the new site.

Coachkev and other coaches - I don't want to get into IP questions but regardless, if you want to publish a book of your coaching advice, both Amazon and lulu.com offer self-publishing options. See

http://www.amazon.com/gp/seller-account/mm-summary-page.html?topic=200260520
http://lulu.com/

It looks like you can publish for free on Kindle (then they take a cut of any sales). FWIW I would definitely want to buy such a book even though I'm "retired" from coaching.
