Wycombe Wanderers have decided to close their youth academy. A big reason is the new EPPP being put in place in England from next season.

Teams are separated into 4 tiers and the top tier can take any players and the lower tiers have to wait for cast offs from the higher tiered academies.

Also the tribunal system for deciding fee's for an academy player to move from a smaller club to a bigger club has been removed and replaced by a tariff system.

Financially it could make it impossible for smaller clubs to survive losing their best players for less than before.

I'm guessing there will be more but it will be a sad day for football when more and more of these academies close.
